Visa Information

Tanzania Visa
All visitors must obtain visa prior to entering Tanzania, except nationals of the East African Community, Hong Kong, Macao, Rwanda, Romania and Commonwealth countries (excluding Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, India, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, South Africa and United Kingdom)

Obtaining Visa in Advance
If you wish to obtain a visa in advance, you will need to submit your application form at the nearest Tanzania Embassy, High Commission or a Consulate.You are recommended to apply for the visa 3 months prior to travel dates. Tanzania now issues visas for dates of travel and for the declared time of stay, so your application must show the exact dates, which match your air tickets.

Obtaining Visa on Arrival
Nationals of certain countries can also obtain Tanzania visa upon arrival in Tanzania. You can get your visa in any of Tanzania’s port of entry including international airports upon landing. You are advised to get the visa application form from your flight cabin crew and fill it a few hours before landing.  Kindly be informed the queue to obtain visa is mostly long at the airport.

Uganda Visa
You can get your visa before you travel or in any of Uganda port of entry including international airports upon landing. You are recommended to apply for the visa 3 months prior to travel dates. The start date and validity of your visa should cover the period you wish to travel.

Ugandan immigration officers decide how long travellers are permitted to stay in Uganda when they enter the country. This is usually between 2 weeks and 3 months, and the immigration officer will normally enter a handwritten note of this period next to the entry stamp in your passport. You can be fined and/or imprisoned for overstaying your visa. You can apply to extend the period of your stay at Ugandan immigration headquarters on Jinja Road in Kampala. Kenya Visa
You can get your visa before you travel or in any of Kenya’s port of entry including international airports upon arrival. To minimize time spent queuing at the port of entry or airport, you are advised to obtain visa prior to entering Kenya. You can apply for single entry and transit visas on the evisas website. You are recommended to apply for the visa 3 months prior to travel dates. Kenya now issues visas for dates of travel and for the declared time of stay, so your application must show the exact dates, which match your air tickets. Rwanda Visa
You can get your visa before you travel or in any of Rwanda’s port of entry including international airports upon landing. Citizens of all countries that are not visa exempt, have also option to submit application online ( click here) or at the Rwanda Diplomatic Missions of the country of residence before departure. Those applying online have option to pay online or upon arrival.

East African Visa (Kenya, Uganda & Rwanda)
You can also apply for an East African Tourist Visa. This is valid for 90 days and allows multiple entries into Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda. You can apply for this visa on the ‘e-visa’ website. If acquiring the EATV visa before travel, your first entry point must be the country through which you applied for the visa.  The East Africa Tourist Visa costs US $100, is valid for 90 days and is multiple entries if staying within the three countries. Visa holders are subject to normal Immigration control at the port of entry. Visitors should therefore carry with them documents submitted with their applications, for possible presentation to Immigration officers.

Here are the General Requirements for Visa Application

  • Passport at least 6 months valid before expiring date
  • $50 – $100 dollar bill (cash) for the single entry visa stamp depending on your country of nationality
  • Safari itinerary and your ground operator contacts
Important Notes
  • All supporting documents must be submitted when applying for your visa.
  • Valid passport with sufficient number of unused pages (at least 2 empty pages) for endorsements abroad is required.
  • The applicant must sign the visa application form
  • If the applicant is a minor (under age 18), a parental authority has to be submitted.
  • Please ensure that the visa form is correctly filled and attached with relevant supporting documents before submitting to ensure prompt processing of your application. Visa and postage fees after application are non-refundable.
